Bandits Abduct Ex-Lawmaker, 5 Others In Zamfara

Bandits in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State have set a ransom of N60 million for six persons including a former councilor.

The bandits reportedly raided Jangeme village of Wanke district of Gusau Local Government Area, and picked the six persons apparently acting on information on their financial capacities.

The six persons abducted were the former councillor for Wanke Ward, Hon Salmanu Ahmed, Lawwali mai chemist, Yusha Jangeme, Malama Nafisa, Aminu Sarki and Alhaji Anas

The Punch quoted a brother of one of the kidnapped persons, Mohammed Bashari Jangeme, as confirming that the bandits made a request for N60 million to enable the bandits free the hostages.

The Punch further quoted him as saying that some of the relatives of some of the hostages had started selling their property to enable them meet the demand of the bandits who he said had reduced their demands on the hostages.

The bandits have given a two day deadline for the ransom to be paid.
