The supremacy battle between Governor Willie Obiano and billionaire businessman, Prince Arthur Eze is set to escalate on Monday as Anambra Government officials were on Sunday night mobilizing for a massive protest against two traditional rulers perceived to be backing Eze.

The two traditional rulers are HRH lgwe Alex Edozieuno and HRH lgwe Peter Udorji according to sources in Anambra are the target of a major demonstration set to take place on Monday. The two are remarkably from the same Aguleri Community as Governor Obiano who it was perceived was peeved over the support of the two monarchs for his rival, Eze.

Two leading personalities, one a prominent official of the Aguleri Development Union and another, a senior aide of the governor who is also from Aguleri, according to sources, have been mobilized with millions of naira to organize a protest targeted at the two traditional rulers.

The two traditional rulers were part of the 12 traditional rulers who last week visited the Presidential Villa, Abuja to thank the president for the recent development initiatives extended to the state and the Southeast.

The visit was reportedly facilitated by Prince Eze, an issue that was said to have prompted  the ire of the governor.

Besides, the governor was said to be unhappy with the prince’s stance on the democratization of the local governments in Anambra State.

“The Governor wants the protesters to demolish the houses of the two traditional rulers and also to demand for withdrawal of their certificates and possibly banish the two of them,” a source privy to the development told GWG.

The protest it was gathered is to provide the basis for further actions the state government will take on the two monarchs which may include dethronement and banishment.

The governor had earlier suspended the 12 traditional rulers who were involved in the courtesy call to the Presidential Villa.
