Godwin Obaseki and Dan Orbih in continuation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship campaign in Edo State on Tuesday chided Adams Oshiomhole for abandoning Ewohimi, the community of his late wife, Clara in the provision of infrastructure.

Governor Obaseki while addressing party faithful in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area of the state, assured the people that the development their son-in-law, Oshiomhole denied them when he governed the state for eight years would be given to them by his administration.

Obaseki said: “What your son-in-law could not do, I, your son and brother will do it for you. I know that the one that worries you most is electricity. We have discovered that in every ward we went to in this area. I want to assure you that if you vote for me, I will work for you.”

On his part, Chairman of Edo PDP Campaign Council, Chief Dan Orbih, while giving support to the allegation noted: “The truth must be told, this state is not the property of Oshiomhole.

“You (Ewohimi people) ought not to be craving for development by now because it is where Oshiomhole’s late wife comes from. If he (Oshiomhole) had done what he was supposed to do when he was governor, Obaseki would have turned his attention to other projects in the area.”

Addressing members of Ewohimi Traditional Council of Chiefs led by His Royal Highness, Peter Ojeifoh Usifoh, the Onojie of Ewohimi, Governor Obaseki promised to prioritise road construction, water and electricity projects as well as education in his second term.

The governor also promised to activate the Ugboha water scheme to meet the water need of residents in the community, dismissing claims that the project had been abandoned by his government.

“We have not abandoned the water scheme in Ugboha. We will not abandon it. The problem of electricity in Edo is not because we do not have power. The problem is with the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC). They are not serious. That is why we can’t even pump water.”

On his part, the His Royal Highness, Peter Ojeifoh Usifoh, the Onojie of Ewohimi, prayed for Obaseki and his deputy, Comr. Philip Shaibu, ahead of the September 19, 2020 poll.

Usifoh who spoke through the President of Ewohimi Community Development Association, Mr. Innocent Uwaegbea, promised to support the re-election of the governor with a charge to fulfill his campaign promises.

Following the calls, the PDP delegation moved to the campaign ground in the grounds of the residence of party chieftain, Mr. Ken Immasuagbon where the governor addressed the party faithful.
