Why PSG Is Good To Win The Champions League

For the first time in over a decade, a French team and a German team will entertain the football world in the cracking Uefa Champions League final in Lisbon.

PSG will battle against Bayern for European glory on Sunday, August 23rd 2020. Bayern Munich have been mercilessly scoring goals for fun, tearing opponents apart and humiliating the biggest names.

The Bavarian giants demolished Barcelona 8-2 in the Quarter-finals. That emphatic win bamboozled the whole world as they are also the highest goalscoring side in the competition. Prior to the Barcelona butchering, they destroyed Tottenham 7-2 in the group stage.

Robert Lewandowski has been competent, consistent and coldhearted in front of goal which has made him the competition’s highest goal scorer with 15 goals.

All of Bayern’s statistics are enough to petrify their French adversaries, but PSG also have strong weapons in attack. Since 2012, PSG have tried to win the Champions League by acquiring the best players in Europe. The signings of Neymar and Mbappe has been great for them and the duo can do the magic on Sunday night.

Neymar, who joined the squad in the 2017/2018 season has not been able to help the team advance past the Round of 16 as a result of injuries.

The Brazilian wonder kid has been terrific for the French Champions as he scored in both legs of their Round of 16 tie against Dortmund, troubled the Atalanta defensive unit in the Quarterfinals and also provided an assist against Liepzig in the Semis. With Neymar in the side, PSG can beat any team in the world.

His combination with his teammate Kylian Mbappe is one of the best in European football this season. Mbappe’s pace is a problem for any defense. Added to that is his wonderful goalscoring ability.

This chance to win the Champions League is a once in a lifetime opportunity for them after they have been working so hard to reach here since the 2012/2013 season.

Now, Bayern also have the best players going forward, with Serge Gnabry, Thomas Mueller, Ivan Perisic, Phillipe Coutinho and Robert Lewandowski in their possession.

An achilles heels for them is their defensive line which other teams have not been able to exploit. David Alaba and a declining Jerome Boateng partnership in defense won’t be able to tame the PSG attack.

Their full backs are always moving forward which makes their flanks vulnerable for the likes of Mbappe and Neymar to exploit.

Thus, Bayern will not be able to repel the attacks from the dazzling Neymar and prosperous wing play from Kylian Mbappe, that will make the difference. Neymar on his own can spearhead any team to victory, he has done that in the past.

A perfect example was when he led the Brazilian team to win their first Olympics gold medal in football back in 2016. This will also be a chance for him to live up to the billing as the world’s most expensive player.
