12 PDP Members Die Welcoming Zamfara Gov

Twelve supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) were on Thursday feared dead in a fatal auto crash in Zamfara State.

It was learnt that the accident which involved four vehicles occurred late in the evening of Wednesday along Tsafe-Gusau Road in the state.

The party’s Public Relations Officer  in the state, Alhaji Faruku Shattima, confirmed it to The PUNCH.

According to him, the incident occurred when the party members who had gone to welcome Governor Matawelle Bello who was returning from Abuja after some days of official engagement.

“Part of our members who went to welcome Governor Bello Matawalle who was returning to the state from Abuja after some days of official engagement.

“They were trying to meet the governor’s convoy and in a bid to do that, they had a head-on collision with a Dangote trailer coming from the opposite direction,” Rijiya added.

He said that funeral prayers were conducted at 10 am on Thursdays and have been buried according to Islamic rites.
