Mixed reactions have trailed the decision of Burna Boy to reject the invitation from Omoyele Sowore to join the October 1 protest.

On Tuesday, Sowore, via his Twitter handle, invited Burna boy for the October 1, nationwide protest.

The activist said the Grammy award nominee has never led a protest in the country despite the comparison with legendary afro singer, Fela Anikulapo Kuti as he enjoined him to join the protest.

Responding to the invitation, Burna Boy told Sowore to leave him out of the protest, saying he does not trust Nigerian politicians.

Burna Boy wrote, “Everybody is a Fela fan and supporter now that he is dead. Humans are so Funny, You politicians are ALL the same (especially in Nigeria) and Frankly I don’t trust none of you.@YeleSowore.

“@YeleSowore Well. I am NOT FELA. I Have said that countless times. But you sir Are a politician. Leave me out of your schemes. Thanks.”

Many Nigerians have reacted to the clash between Burna Boy and Sowore.

Some lambasted the artiste for riding on the fame of legendary afro-beat musician, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, without imitating the revolutionary movement of Fela.

They also recounted how Burna Boy referred to Nigerian youths as cowards, who cannot fight for their rights, in wake of fire incidents that rocked the Treasury House.

However, some Nigerians supported the artiste, arguing that he has the fundamental right to reject a protest and he should not be bullied to participate.
