2 PDP Reps Defect To APC Troubled Waters In Rivers, Taraba

Two members of the House of Representatives, Ephraim Nwuzi from Rivers State and David Abel, Taraba State on Wednesday defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection was announced by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila as the House resumed plenary session following the sessional break.

The two men cited divisions in the local chapters of the PDP for their actions.

Remarkably, the two men defected from solid PDP states to the APC which in their two states are split.

The Rivers State chapter of the APC has been entwined in serial crisis that even prevented the party from fielding candidates in the last General Election.

In Taraba State, the APC has also been enmeshed in crisis following the defection of the party’s governorship standard bearer in 2019, Senator Aisha Alhassan to the PDP.
