A mob has invaded the Jos residence of the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, located near the city’s University Teaching Hospital.

GWG gathered that the house serves as a base for the distribution of empowerment to constituents in nearby Bauchi State. Dogara has represented the Bogoro/Dass, Nigeria/Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency on the platform of the PDP and the APC since 2007.

It was gathered that as a way of avoiding distraction in the constituency that Dogara had over time kept his empowerment provisions in Jos and beneficiaries were periodically given letters to collect whatever was meant for them in Jos.

“So, it was not something that was hidden and people knew of it and they just came, more than 2,000 and descended on the place,” a source told GWG.

The mob according to sources have picked tricycles, furniture and other electronic gadgets.

The mob action is coming after mobs on Saturday ransacked the residence of two notable political actors in Calabar, Cross River State sending panic among the rich in the land.

GWG reported that goods valued at hundreds of millions of naira were ransacked, and where not, razed by fire after mobs ravaged the homes of Senators Gershom Bassey, the incumbent senator for Cross River South Constituency and the Calabar residence of former Senate leader and Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, among others.

The Jos mob descended on Dogara’s residence at about 9.00 a.m. and reportedly defied the policemen and other security operatives enforcing the curfew.
