Mixed reactions have flowed after a twitter user on Monday tried to link the #EndSARS protests to Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate in the 2019 election.

The inference made by a twitter user, David Abdulrazak Atta was upon the claim that three top #EndSARS activists had links with the former vice-president prior to in the 2019 presidential election.

The trio alleged to have ties to Atiku were popular comedian, Mr Macaroni, upmarket lawyer, Ms. Modupe Odele, and social media influencer, Rinu.

No direct contact between the three and Atiku during the protests was made in the postings. Atta, however, said that there were connections between the three and Atiku in the period before 2019.

The social media linkages between the trio and Atiku was in the period between 2014 and 2019.

Atta posited that the #EndSARS protest was a political affair given that five out of the five demands of the protesters were met.

Mixed reactions followed the assertions as some twitter users sought to distance Atiku from the protests.

NEFERTITI@firstladyship wrote: “Buhari is using threats and intimidation to link Moe, (Modupe Odele), Mr. Macaroni, Rinu and #EndSARSprotesters to Atiku. I find that laughable, and baseless,” he submitted as he said that protesters as free citizens were free to go about their affairs as they deemed fit.

Hajee Jibril@JibrilAkhigbe2, however, disagreed faulting Atiku as he said: “At Atiku’s age he’s still instigating and sponsoring violence, something em and his Oga did for 8yrs in government. He should be 75th by next year and Atiku is still spreading huge money and used tricky word like ‘FANTABULOUS’ to lue youth sympathy. Waziri no shame rara o.”

Others, however, thought Atiku should have had a hand in the protest.
