By Ella Makondo
Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, has revealed his plan to join the ruling All Progressives Congress( APC) which he claimed would protect the interest of the South-East in the 2023 elections.
Umahi made his decision known to the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday in Abuja.
GWG had reported that the governor’s foot soldiers in the 63 development centres of the state met on Tuesday where plans for the defection were further articulated.
Meanwhile as the meeting was going on, the governor it was gathered met with a delegation of the National Working Committee, NWC of the PDP led by its national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus where he said that his exit from the PDP was irrevocable.
The NWC delegation it was further gathered had tried to persuade him not to leave but they met a brick wall as the governor even while welcoming was said to have stoutly rebuffed their entreaties to remain.
He was said to have cited the readiness of the APC to zone the presidency to the Southeast and the seeming unwillingness to do same.
Among those at the meeting at the Ebonyi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja were Deputy National Secretary, Agbo Emmanuel; National Organising Secretary, Austin Akobondu; Financial Secretary, Abdullahi Maibasira; National Women Leader, Mariya Waziri and Senator Sulieman Nazif.
