One More PDP Gov Leaving For APC – Wike
One more governor will join Dave Umahi in leaving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nyesom Wike said on Wednesday.
The Rivers State governor, however, refused to name the governor but suspicion was focused on either Governor Okeize Ikpeazu of Abia State or Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, the two governors who had in the past been speculated with intention of leaving the PDP for APC.
Governor Wike who made the disclosure during an interview on Channels, however, fired Umahi for supposedly betraying the confidence of the people of Ebonyi and the PDP.
Wike said that Umahi’s defection, however, did not surprise him saying that the Ebonyi governor had for long departed from the PDP.
He said that it was because of his knowledge of Umahi’s secret dalliance with the APC that he opted out of PDP delegation to consult with the governor about his defection.
“I knew that nothing was going to come out of it, so I didn’t go with them since he had already made up his mind,” Governor Wike told Channels Television’s Politics Today.
