Lagos East Showdown: PDP Wants INEC To Monitor APC Candidate

Published

on

The PDP in Lagos has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be on the watch out for where the APC Senatorial Candidate, Tokunbo Abiru, would vote this Saturday in the scheduled Lagos East Senatorial bye-election.

According to the PDP, INEC would hasten and help the court in reaching evidential conclusion that Abiru is not eligible to contest in the said bye election being supposedly not a qualified resident nor voter in the Lagos East Senatorial district.

The PDP in the statement issued by its publicity secretary, Taofik Gani said:

“In the opinion of the PDP the highpoint of the aspects of the bye elections on Saturday is for the INEC to declare publicly whether Abiru did vote or is even on voter register.

It would be recalled that the PDP had filed a case at the federal high court to stop Abiru from contesting on the allegation of him not being eligible for want of valid voter registration.

Meanwhile, the PDP has also commended and appreciated the decision of five candidates and their political parties to back the PDP candidate in the election.
