APC/PDP Melee In Lagos East: Police Slap Curfew
The Lagos State Police Command is to enforce a restriction of movements in five local government areas where the Lagos East Senatorial election is to be contested on Saturday.
The two main parties contesting the election are the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Announcing the restrictions on his twitter handle on Friday, Lagos Command spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi said the restriction which will last from 6.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. will cover Somolu, Kosofe, Epe, Ikorodu, and Ibeju-Lekki local government areas.
The tweet read, “Lagos-East senatorial election, no movement between 6am and 6pm of Saturday, December 5, 2020. Comply please.”
12 contestants are vying for the Senate seat made vacant by the death of Senator Adebayo Osinowo.
However, the two main contestants are Tokunbo Abiru of the APC and Babatunde Gbadamosi of the PDP. Both men have taken one another to court over alleged violations of election guidelines.
