PDP Hopeful As APC Fight To ‘Death’ In Imo North

The PDP was on Friday afternoon preparing itself to harvest the Imo North Senate seat in Saturday’s bye-election following the mutual war of destruction between the Hope Uzodinma and Ifeanyi Ararume camps in the APC.

Hours after the Uzodinma camp obtained a court of Appeal judgment disqualifying Ararume as the APC’s candidate for the election and recognizing Frank Ibezim, Ararume’s camp hit back from Abuja.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja issued a judgment disqualifying Ibezim as the candidate of the party on the claim that he made false declarations in the papers submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

In his ruling, Justice Inyang Ekwo affirmed that the affidavit and documents submitted by Ibezim were falsified and uncertified photocopies of West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate.

He also observed that there were two different names Ibezim Chukwuma Frank and Ibezim Francis Chukwuma in the two different documents.

The judge thus directed INEC to expunge Ibezim’s name from the list of candidates for the bye-election.

Ibezim who is a close associate of the minister of state for education, Emeka Nwajiuba is strongly backed by Governor Uzodinma.

It is alleged that the governor does not want Ararume in the Senate to form a synergy with Senator Rochas Okorocha who is another foe of the governor.

With the APC fighting one another the prospects of the PDP prevailing in the election in the state presently controlled by the APC was on the upswing on Friday.

The PDP candidate is Chief Emmanuel okewulonu
