Delta 2023: It’s Ijaw’s Turn – Babogha
By Chuks Ekpeneru
An appeal has gone out to other ethnic groups in Delta State to support an Ijaw person to become the Governor of the state come 2023.
According to Ijaw born business mogul, Chief Julius Babogha “Anything that belongs to everybody needs to be rotated.”
He insisted that it is “now the turn of the Ijaw” to produce the next governor of the state for the sake of equity, fairness and justice.
He told newsmen in Warri that for equity, fairness and justice to reign, it is the turn of the Ijaws.
Babogha said it is core injustice for one ethnic group to be oppressed by the others.
Babogha argued that since 1999, the Ijaw have supported other ethnic groups in attaining the governorship position, “almost all the ethnic groups have occupied the governorship seat except the Ijaw nation”.
He appealed to other ethnic nationalities to give the Ijaw nation a chance in the forthcoming election, stressing that the Ijaw should be given the opportunity in 2023.
“The Urhobo have been there for eight years, same as the Itsekiri and now the Anioma. So, I don’t think there is anything wrong for the Ijaw in Delta State to produce the next governor.
“It is not too much to ask for and if we all believe in justice, then an Ijaw becoming the next governor of Delta State should not bring up uproar”.
