Controversy Over Number Of Katsina Students Abducted As Gov Disowns Past Claims

There was confusion on Thursday night after the release of 344 boys of Kankara Government Science Secondary School arising from uncertainties if there are any still being held back.

The government had announced that 333 children were kidnapped but the figure was disputed by other sources who alleged that the figure of those kidnapped reached 668.

Speaking to Al Jazera late on Thursday, Governor Aminu Masari admitted that the exact number of those kidnapped was still uncertain.

“They said that they have surrendered all that are with them but we do not know.

“So we will find out from parents whether there are still some left. Like I said even the figure that I gave out was not static because we were looking between 330 and 400 but now we have gotten 344, so, we will know exactly by tomorrow,” the governor said.
