The embattled Managing Director of First City Monument Bank, FCMB, Adams Nuru offered to go on leave following the decision of the board of the bank to investigate the sex and paternity scandal around him.

The bank in a statement made available to GWG said that Nuru volunteered to go on leave to allow a seamless investigation by the bank of the allegations against him.

This is as over 2842 people (as of press time) have signed a petition asking the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to sack him for the affair that is alleged to have caused the death of Tunde Thomas, the estranged husband of Moyo Thomas, a former FCMB staff Nuru is alleged to have had an affair with.

The bank in the statement said that Nuru offered to go on leave Sources said the panel set up by the bank to probe the case recommended that Nuru be excused from the bank during the period of investigation.

The petitioners calling for the sack of Nuru accuse him of being responsible for the death of the spouse of the bank’s former employee.

The bank in a statement said:

We are aware of several stories circulating across several media platforms about our bank’s Managing Director Adam Nuru, a former employee Mrs Moyo Thomas and her deceased husband, Mr Tunde Thomas.

While this is a personal matter, the tragedy of the death of Mr Tunde Thomas and the allegations of unethical conduct require the bank’s board to conduct a review of what transpired, any violations of our code of ethics and the adequacy of this code of ethics. This is already under way.

During the period of the review, the Managing Director has volunteered to proceed on leave. This will guarantee the sanctity of the review process.

We enjoin all our stakeholders to bear with us as we conduct this review and to please respect the various families involved.
