Former Ekiti governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose, says President Buhari should no longer be referred to as “Mr integrity” due to the recent report by the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2020 report published by Transparency International. Buhari is no more Mr. Integrity, the former Ekiti governor said.

According to the report, Nigeria occupies the 149th position out of the 180 countries surveyed as well scored 25 out of 100 points making Nigeria the second most corrupt country in West Africa with Guinea-Bissau the only country more corrupt than Nigeria in the sub-region.

Reacting to this development, Fayose took to his Twitter account saying that President Buhari not only failed to secure Nigerians but also failed to fight corruption as he promised.

According to the former Ekiti governor the All Progressive Congress (APC) while they were an opposition party, had used Transparency International to discredit the administration of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Goodluck Joanthan.

Fayose who has since his second term as governor of Ekiti State been unsparing of Buhari said that with the development that Buhari is no more Mr. Integrity as he has been popularly referred to by his supporters.

He wrote: “Transparency International has now established that under Buhari, Nigeria has become the Hq of corruption. At this point, it’s illegal and morally unacceptable to refer to Buhari as Mr Integrity. He has equally failed in securing Nigerians. Therefore, Buhari’s integrity my foot.

“When the President and his APC gang labelled the PDP govt of President Jonathan as corrupt, they relied on reports by the Transparency International (TI). Then,  the organization was right and its reports were credible.

“Now under Buhari, Mr “Integrity and Corruption Fighter”, the same Transparency International latest report placing Nigeria as the 2nd Most Corrupt country in West Africa is no longer credible.”
