Breaking: 15 Drown Fleeing Bandits In Niger

With the fate of the 41 Kagara students and others kidnapped by bandits in Niger State hanging in the balance, the bandits have again raided another community in the state leading to the loss of at least 15 souls.

The raid on Gurmana Ward in Shiroro local government area of Niger state according to sources occurred on Saturday evening forcing the community members to scamper for safety.

The bandits according to The Nation were armed with sophisticated weapons which they fired with reckless abandon to assert their authority over the community.

The 15 persons who were confirmed dead it was gathered drowned as they ran towards the nearby River Kaduna which flows through the area.

“Right now, we don’t know how many drowned. we are suspecting the bandits are still around. We cannot confirm the number of casualties now,” a source told The Nation.

GreenWhiteGreen, GWG had reported earlier on Saturday that the government was yet to release the Kagara Students who were kidnapped on Wednesday.

Kagara is about three hours drive from the scene of the Saturday evening attack in Shiroro and is separated by a circular road covering about 172 kilometers.
