Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge has rebuffed the allegation of racism leveled against the British Royal Family by his brother, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan. He said the family is not racist.

It is the first public response by a member of the British Royal Family to the accusation of racism levelled against the British royals by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex last week during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Speaking during a visit in east London on Thursday, Prince William also confirmed that he had not yet spoken to his brother. He also said that he would do so.

As he departed a school in Stratford alongside his wife the Duchess of Cambridge on Thursday, Prince William was asked by a reporter: “Is the royal family a racist family, sir?”

The duke replied: “We’re very much not a racist family.”

Asked whether he had spoken to Prince Harry since the Oprah interview, Prince William said: “No, I haven’t spoken to him yet but I will do.”

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Prince William is very much anxious about the issue given the claim that his wife, Kate has been especially put on the spotlight. The interview has opened issues of a spat between Meghan and his wife with a narrative that Kate was despiteful of Harry’s wife in the period leading to the marriage between Harry and Meghan.

Before now, Buckingham Palace had in its response to the interview expressed concern over the allegation raised by Meghan that a member of the Royal Family had expressed concern over the colour of her unborn baby.

It has now been revealed that following the interview session that Prince Harry had confirmed that the person who said so was neither the Queen nor the Duke of Edinburgh.
