The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams has alleged a conspiracy to keep the alleged Fulani warlord, Iskilu Wakili from prosecution saying that a top presidency official warned the Oyo State Commissioner of police to ensure that nothing unsavory happened to him.

Adams who spoke in an interview also gave details of how Wakili had allegedly tormented the people of Ibarapa Land was arrested. He said that contrary to the claim that the alleged Fulani warlord was blind, Adams said that when he was arrested that he walked on his own to the vehicle that took him to the police station.

He rebuffed claims that the Odua Peoples Congress, OPC who nabbed him got a wrong person. Adams said that Wakili was the one who directed many criminal activities in the area and his hideout was an area notorious for keeping hostages and paying kidnap ransom.

“Wakili is not blind, he walked by himself into the vehicle, I am telling you authoritatively that wakil is the one behind the kidnappings and killings in Ibarapaland,” Adams said in the interview on TVC’s Your View programme on Monday monitored by GreenWhiteGreen GWG.

Noting the conspiracy to exonerate him from high quarters, Gani Adams said that the police authorities tried to claim that Wakili could not have been behind the criminal activities.
“It was so clear that the security agencies were trying to exonerate him. Police were trying to exonerate him that this is not the Wakili.”

According to him the efforts by some of the policemen were firmly rebuffed by the local traditional ruler who came out to say that the Wakili captured was the one who had been tormenting the people for about six years.

“Some parts of our security agencies are compromised. You won’t blame the security agencies. The powers that are above are putting much pressure on them. Before Wakili was apprehended there was a top official in the villa who called her (Oyo CP) that nothing should happen to Wakili.

Speaking in defence of Amotekun, he said that the corps in the different states have been unable to do much because they were restrained by the Federal Government.

“Amotekun is like using Panadol to cure someone having typhoid, the states asked to be given pump action guns but the Federal Government refused, so how can they fight those with guns,” he said.
