Okorocha, Imo Monarch Fight Inside Air Peace Plane

The unending faceoff between influential Southeast monarch, Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya, the Obi of Obinugwu and Senator Rochas Okorocha boiled over on an Air Peace flight from Owerri on Sunday it was reported.

The pilot of the plane  GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered had to come out to settle the two prominent Igbo men when it was alleged that the monarch was about hitting Okorocha with his stick.

Okorocha and Dr. Ilomuanya entered into a bitter conflict when the senator was governor of Imo State and caused the removal of the monarch both as chairman of the Imo State Council of Chiefs, a position that the powerful Ilomuanya had occupied over several years.

Dr. Ilounanya was also at that time and for several years, chairman of the Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers.

Though the monarch got restraining orders on the Okorocha led Imo State Government, the orders did little in stopping the government from appointing a new monarch as chairman of the council.

IgbereTV News reported that Okorocha had to be reseated after what began as a verbal dispute between the two men almost escalated to a brawl in the plane forcing the captain to step out of the cockpit to reseat Okorocha.

The news website reported thus:

What started as a mild altercation all of a sudden snowballed into a full-fledged confrontation inside the aircraft, as the charismatic popular royal father descended on Okorocha with his walking stick. If not the timely intervention of the flight captain who rushed out when Eze Ilomuanya was hitting Okorocha with his royal walking stick to depart from his sight, the story would have been something else. The embattled former Governor was visibily rattled and shaken to his bone marrow. Okorocha was hastily relocated to another seat even as Eze Ilomuanya was heard warning him to stay away from Orlu if he truly wants peace to reign.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Senator Okorocha has been faced with a number of personal and political challenges since he left office with fellow party man and incumbent governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma not giving him a breathing space with the retrieval of government property alleged to have been illegally acquired by Okorocha, his family and assoicates.
