How Mentally Challenged Woman Was Rescued After Jumping Into Well In Osun

A yet to be identified woman was on Tuesday rescued by men of Osun Fire Service while attempting to commit suicide.

It was gathered that the woman, who was mentally challenged, jumped into a well around Kola Balogun area of the state capital.

An eye witness Nike Olayiwola said the woman was passing bye and suddenly jumped into the well which was left open.

“The woman is middle-aged and was walking pass around 9:20am. Nobody can explain how it really happened but we just heard a loud sound and we discovered she has jumped into a well by the road.

We rush to the well and saw. Unfortunately, no one could jump in, that is why we called fire service”, she said.

Meanwhile, the Administrative Officer, Osun Fire Service, Ibrahim Adekunle confirmed the incident.

“The woman was around 40 years old and we were told she jumped into the well. We arrived the scene around 9:07 am and operatives pulled her out of the well.

“She was handed over to the state Ambulance service in company of police to be taken to hospital for treatment”, he said.
