Okorocha Nabbed By EFCC
The penultimate governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) it emerged late on Tuesday.
The former governor who represents Orlu Senatorial Zone in the Senate was reported on Tuesday evening in Abuja, Daily Trust reported.
The arrest follows overt complaints by the incumbent regime of Senator Hope Uzodimma who accused him of fleecing the state while he served as governor of the state between 2011 and 2019.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Okorocha was detained in February after he made an attempt to repossess some of the properties reacquired from him by the Imo State Government.
The faceoff between Okorocha and the Uzodimma administration is despite the fact that the two men belong to the same party though different tendencies within the state.
The arrest of Senator Okorocha is the first major arrest effected by the EFCC since the advent of the new management of Mr. Abdurasheed Bawa as chairman.
