Reno Omokri, the convener of the #HarassBuhariOutofLondon Movement, has suspended the protest to force President Muhammadu Buhari out of London in respect to the commencement of the Ramadan fast.

Omokri who has also appealed to fellow agitating groups including Omoyele Sowore’s #BuhariMustGo group to stop their protests in the spirit of the Ramadan.

Omokri who flew from 8,500 kilometers from California to lead the protest against Buhari’s medical check-up in London, however, vowed to resume the protest should the president make an attempt to leave the Abuja House in London to see his doctors.

He said, “Due to the Ramadan fast which began today, April 13, 2021, we have decided to temporarily suspend #HarassBuhariOutofLondon to allow General Muhammadu Buhari to observe his fast in peace.

“We believe it is the humane thing to do, given our love for God and humanity,” Omokri said of his decision to suspend the protests against Buhari in London.

“I also personally call on Omoyele Sowore’s #BuhariMustGo group, who have periodically been holding a separate protest, which is not affiliated to ours, to consider granting this concession on humanitarian grounds.

“We are closely monitoring both his residence and his doctors officers and if General Buhari makes an attempt to see his London doctors during this period, we will consider this a breach of our truce and resume the protests.”

The decision by Omokri to stop the protest against Buhari has been received with mixed reactions on Twitter.

Adriano tweeting @Adrianobaba1 flayed Omokri saying:

So, protesting for your right is a distraction for someone fasting. Oga, please say you are tired fighting for us or you have considered those elder statemen who pleaded with you earlier. But remember, giving up is like accepting defeat. He doesn’t deserve rest.

Adriano in another tweet in the same direction said:

Effiong John, a medical doctor tweeted thus:

Which fasting is more important than fighting for the oppressed? If you take that position then you would have disappointed millions who believed in you and followed you and next time you demand their support they would hesitate giving it.

However, Omokri had others backing or who understood his decision to stop the protest against Buhari.

I agree! We need a group of activists to strategically bring the Nigerian government down! No need for public stunts! Just do your thing underground! It’s very simple, not all these internet noise makings!

Religion is different from politics. Nobody forced him to contest for election. He can be fasting while he is doing the needful as necessary for his office. Leave religion or fasting out of this.

Pareal.

You don’t need to announce your decision to rest for whatever reason. You’re not the one who asks them to start their protest, don’t try to control anyone on this. Your decision is personal, please don’t try to blackmail anyone with your decision. No sentiments.
