A Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO in Bauchi State, Bauchi State Progressive Congress, has commenced moves to draft the immediate past Chief Of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar into the Bauchi State Governorship contest as its replacement for Governor Bala Mohammed in 2023.

The group at a press conference in Bauchi on Friday said that Abubakar’s emergence as governor will stop the drift that is presently being witnessed in the state.

The group’s Chairman, Comrade Yousuf Nurrudeen Galaje, at the briefing disclosed that it had started mobilizing youths and other stakeholders towards ensuring that it achieves its objective for the Bauchi 2023 goal so that the future of the state is not destroyed.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Abubakar who recently stepped down as Chief of Air Staff after six years has been approved as an ambassador.

He is believed to have also influenced the establishment of the Air Force University in Bauchi State during his tenure.

Speaking at the press conference, Galaje where he opened up on the Bauchi 2023 agenda, he said: “We are so concerned about the future of our great state.

“It is out of this desire to see Bauchi State transformed into one of the greatest states in the country that we are drumming support for the former Chief of Air Staff.

“No doubt, he has distinguished himself with his leadership qualities.”

Galaje further affirmed that the people of Bauchi have no other choice in 2023 but to support the move if what he described as their suffering must stop.

“If they want the suffering to stop in 2023, Abubakar is the right man to succeed Gov Bala Mohammad,” he said.

“Our observation of Bauchi political space has brought our focus to the former Chief Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar, whose track record and achievements have raised the bar on leadership.”

Giving reasons for their call on Abubakar to contest the Bauchi governorship in 2023, he stated among others, “his proven performer, outstanding style of leadership with wholesome track record, pragmatic reformer and a prudent manager of resources,’ he said of the former Chief of Air Staff.
