NAF Visits Parents Of About To Wed Pilot Of Crashed Jet
The officials of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Friday paid a condolence visit to the family of the pilot of the military jet that crashed in Kaduna.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the crash killed the Chief of Army of Staff, Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other officers.
NAN also reports that the pilot, Flt.-Lt. Taiwo Asaniyi and three other crew members also died in the crash of the NAF plane.
Air Commodore Simon Peters, who is the Commander of the 671 NAF base detachment, Akobo, Ibadan, led other officers to the residence of the late pilot in Ibadan to console the aged parents.
Responding on behalf of the family, Deacon Adeleke, who thanked the NAF for the early visit, pleaded for immortalisation of all the deceased.
He advised that the government should always remember the families of the deceased.
NAF Pilot Was About To Wed
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Flt. Lt. Asaniyi was set to wed very soon given claims by his friends on social media.
His proposed best man was among others who took to twitter on Friday to mourn his demise.
The twitter user said: @_victor_kings, wrote, “Flight lieutenant T.O Asaniyi. He flew the plane, we had his introduction in March. I was going to be his best man.”
“Ahhh, no now, not Mr Asaniyi. Still saw his WhatsApp status update this week. Dear Lord!” @blessnoyiz expressed shock.
Following the formal announcement by the army that there were 10 others who died in the plane, the same twitter user expressed his bitterness with the army announcing his friend who was the NAF pilot of the ill-fated plane as among others without name.
Leaving Nigeria will increase your life expectancy. A lot of deaths could have been averted. Shame my friend was just a pawn in the game, All they could do was regard him as ‘others’.
