Where Is Buhari? Nigerians Angry Over Absence At Military Funeral
Anger at the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari at the military funeral of four serving generals including the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and others on Saturday has swelled up among Nigerians from across the religious and ethnic divide.
Even traditional support base of the president especially in the north who had been supportive of the president in the past were either mum at his absence or poked at his action.
President Buhari’s action was being compared to his contemporaries who it was claimed would attend the funeral of even lesser dignitaries as a show of national empathy.
Twitter users were particularly furious that the president was able to attend what they considered an unimportant function in Paris, France but showed no latitude to attend the funeral of the nation’s fallen heroes.
Some also noted that he attended the 2016 funeral of Kenyan soldiers but has not shown similar response to Nigerian soldiers fallen in the line of duty.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the funeral of the 11 military officers who died in an air crash on Friday was held on Saturday in Abuja.
