Twitter Deletes Buhari’s ‘Civil War’ Tweet

Twitter has deleted the controversial tweet posted by President Muhammadu Buhari in which he vowed to bring deal with Nigerians who misbehave in the language that they will understand using his experience fighting the civil war fifty years ago.

President Buhari in that tweet had vowed to deal with with those “bent on destroying” Nigeria through “insurrection.”

“Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand,” he had said.

The threat by the civilian president has drawn strong condemnations from the civil space and the political opposition some who alleged that he had failed to bring such threats against kidnappers and bandits who have tormented Nigerians.

The tweet has now been deleted by Twitter on the claim that it violated its rules.
