El-Rufai Mourns As Bandits Kill Kaduna Monarch

Bandits have killed Anja Mallam, village head of Dogon Daji in Sanga local government area of Kaduna State, the Kaduna State Government confirmed on Sunday with Governor Nasir El-Rufai mourning the monarch.

The killing of the monarch added to a difficult weekend for Governor Nasir El-Rufai who was also the subject of taunts by the political opposition as represented by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP which took a safe seat from the All Progressives Congress, APC in a bye-election in Sabon Gari, Kaduna State.

The state government said that the monarch was shot dead during an invasion of his residence at the weekend by gunmen.

The Kaduna State Government in confirming the incident, said it got report from security agencies.

In a statement, the state Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the bandits raided the residence of the village head and shot him at close range, resulting in his instant death.

“Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed sadness at the report, and prayed for the repose of the soul of the village head. The Governor sent condolences to the family of the deceased, and the entire community of Dogon Daji over the shocking and brutal killing,” he said.

The commissioner further stated that investigation into the incident is ongoing.
