There has been an inexorable rise in insecurity in Oyo state in recent months, from incessant violent clashes between factions of transport union workers to assassination of individuals and ethnoreligious cleveages that have morphed into brutal conflicts, attacks and reprisal attacks that claimed lives and destroyed properties.
Many observers say the troubling security situation could upend the state governor, Seyi Makinde, excellent and remarkable achievement after just two years in office and could leave his second term bid hanging by a thread.
