Mexico Trounce Nigeria 4-0 in International Friendly
The friendly football battle between Mexico and Nigeria on Sunday did not end well as the Mexican National team spelt the first four letters of NIGEria.
The El Tri found there way to the back of the Super Eagles goal net four times while the Nigerian team could not retaliate.
Although the game ended 4-0 until the referee blew the whistle to end the duel, Mexico national men team have 20 shots with 11 on target while the Nigerian national men team only aimed shots at the side 4 times and none of them where on target.
Hector Herrera gave the Mexican side the lead after two minutes, while Rogelio Funes extended their lead two minutes later.
They maintained their lead till the game’s break as the Super Eagles, largely made up of players featuring in the Nigerian domestic league, failed to find a way past them.
The Mexicans returned from the break to take off from where they started off, with Herrera scoring to complete his brace in the 52nd minute.
They added the fourth goal through Jonathan dos Santos in the 78th minute.
The game was almost like an overkill as Mexico had eight corner-kicks while their Nigeria had only two.
They also dominated possession, with 63 percent to them and 37 percent to their opponents.
The game was used by the Mexicans to round off their preparations for the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup Competition which begins July 10.
It was also part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
