Kano Hisbah Arrests Five Suspected Homosexual Men

The Kano State Hisbah Board on Monday arrested five men suspected to be engaging in homosexuality at Sheka Barde ​​in Kumbotso local government area of  Kano.

The Commander General of the Kano Hisbah Board, Dr Harun Ibn-Sina confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Kano Monday, signed by Malam Lawal Ibrahim, Public Relations Officer of the Board.

According to him, the arrests were made following reports from residents of the area.

“All the suspects confirmed to be above 20 years of age, were apprehended on July 11 during a special raid,” he said.

The commander-general of the Kano Hisbah Board expressed outrage over the alleged actions of the youths.

Ibn-Sina thanked members of the community and security stakeholders for their cooperation and support in cracking down on corruption in the state.

He said the suspects would be charged to court.

The commander-general of the Kano Hisbah Board urged youths to shun unwholesome practices as they were leaders of tomorrow.

This raid is coming lesser than two weeks after the state’s Hisbah Board banned the use of mannequins and dolls to display clothes by tailors, supermarkets, and boutique owners, the board ruled in a measure that is bound to elicit fresh attention at the actions of the corps.

The Commander-General of the board, Shaikh Harun Ibn Sina had said the use of mannequins by tailors, supermarkets and others contravened Islamic injunctions.

He added that the Kano Hisbah Board would embark on sensitisation of the public to educate them on how Islam frowns at the use of mannequins.
