Sunday Igboho’s Aides: Why DSS, Journalists Engaged In Hot Argument

Published

on

Journalists and operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, engaged themselves in a hot argument for several minutes as the security men attempted to prevent television cameramen from taking shots of the 12 aides of Yoruba secessionist, Sunday Adeyemo alias Sunday Igboho, inside the courtroom.

The detainees were moved from the DSS bus into the courtroom of the Federal High Court, Abuja, following the arrival of DSS’ lawyer, Mr Idowu Awo.

Before the arrival of the counsel, Justice Obiora Egwatu had stood down the case following the non-appearance of the DSS legal representative in court.

Trouble however started when the television cameramen sought to use a down period to record the presence of the detainees in the court.

Heavily armed DSS operatives blocked the court door against the judiciary correspondents.

In the drama that ensued, both parties engaged in serious arguments that drew the attention of court workers and policemen.

Although the television stations’ cameramen were not allowed into the courtroom, the reporters were allowed to use their telephones to do the recording.

At the time of this report, only eight detainees were brought to court.
