Zamfara HoS Changes Office To Become Secretary to State Govt

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has approved the appointment of Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

This was contained in a statement a statement by the Director General, Media, Public Enlightenment and Communications, Alhaji Yusuf Idris, made available to the media in Gusau, the state capital on Monday.

The statement indicated that the the new Secretary to the State Government appointment was with immediate effect.

The new SSG before his appointment was the state’s Head of Civil Service, a position he held since August 16, 2019.

Kabiru Balarabe had been the acting SSG since the dissolution of the State Executive Council on May 31, this year, making him effectively perform the dual roles, until his confirmation as SSG today.

Born in Dogon Kade, Kaura Namoda Local Government, on March 15, 1966, the new SSG, holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Sokoto, now Uthman Danfodio university (UDUS).

He had held the position of Private Secretary to former President, late Shehu Shagari, and is well known as an accomplished international badminton player, a sport for which  he held various positions at both state and federal levels.

Balarabe, also the Sardauna of Dan Isa is also the Zamfara state and North-West Zonal Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), in addition to holding many other committee leadership positions and titles within and outside the state.
