Mr Ben Etiaba, Action Alliance (AA) Governorship Candidate in Anambra,  says what he needs  to win the election is the electorate, not a political godfather.

He said this at a news conference on Saturday in Abuja. adding that he could say the things he said, because he had been librated from political godfathers.

He explained that contrary to speculations, his mother, Mrs Virgy Etiaba,  who was a former deputy governor of Anambra,  was not his political godmother or father.

“My mother is actually my spiritual back bone, she  prays for me, right from day one of this process until today.

“Of course every mother wants the best for the son, obviously, hers  is not different.

“She is a Christian and her prayer is that God’s will aligns with hers, which is for her son to occupy whatever position he wants in life.

“She is absolutely not my political godmother or father, she is my biological mother,” he said.

Etiaba stressed if he had a godfather, he would not be capable of speaking freely,   because his godfather might not allow him to.

“I prayed to God that I want a female running mate,  if I had a godfather, he may say no, that he has someone in mind for me to run with, so am free.

“Thank God  am librated from all of that and I don’t have anybody breathing down my neck, so am free, if am elected as next governor of the state,” he said.

Speaking on if his mother was fairly treated while she was deputy governor,  Etiaba said his mother never felt ill treated during her tenure as deputy governor of Anambra State.

He added that though she would have wanted her days in the office to be better than it was, she had no  regrets and never balmed anyone.

He, however, expressed regrets that the state security votes were  not being used judiciously.

“Security vote should be used precisely for what it is allocated for.

“When I hear the figures being bandied around,  I know as governor, I will not need 50 per cent of that, it is sad,” Etiaba, the Anambra governorship hopeful said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  scheduled the Anambra governorship  for Nov. 6. (NAN)
