Kaduna State Government led by Nasir el-Rufai has postponed resumption dates of both Primary and Secondary schools in the state till further over the insecurity situation in the state.

The students were earlier scheduled to resume their academic activities on August 9. That would not happen considering the statement released by the state government jointly signed by the Commissioner for Education, Dr  Shehu Muhammad and that of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan.

According to the statement, the decision is sequel to advice by security agencies, stressing that military operations are continuing while infrastructure projects are in high-risk areas.

“The Kaduna State Government (led by el-Rufai) commends the military and police high commands for the ongoing security operations against armed bandits across the state.

“The government praises the doggedness and courage of officers and troops carrying out air and ground operations around Kaduna, Niger, Katsina, Plateau and Zamfara boundaries”, it said.

The state government said it had requested the military and police high commands to expand the operations to newly identified hide-outs.

“New dates for school resumption will be announced, based on further security assessments.

”While wishing the military and security agencies resounding success against the bandits, Kaduna government appeals for the understanding of all residents over any inconvenience caused by the postponement”, it said.

It urged all residents to be patient and report any security breach to the nearest security agencies.

Green White Green (GWG) earlier in the week reported rampaging bandits terrorising the North West killed 25 people in fresh onslaughts on four communities in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to a statement on Wednesday by Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, farms and huts were also destroyed while many sustained injuries.

Aruwan said that following Tuesday’s update on the attack in Ungwan Magaji, Kishicho, Kigam and Kikoba villages of Kauru Local Government, more details were received by the state government on casualties and property damaged during the attack.

“The figures bring the total number of those who died in the attack to 25, with three persons injured, 68 farms destroyed and 63 huts burnt”
