Feeling sadness, loneliness, and grief while going through a difficult time is typical of any human. Ability to feel is what depicts us as human.

  • Feelings: Such as hopelessness, sadness, emptiness, soberness, helplessness, guilty, etc
  • Less interest in your favourite hobbies
  • Not active like you used to be
  • Changes in sleep pattern
  • Trouble concentrating

Stop Procrastinating

You are likely to continually push away things you ought to handle right now while depressed. One of the ways to combat your depression is getting these things done. It might not be easy at first, but as you try to get these things done, you are more likely to get your mind back to the right state.

Identify the Root of Your Depression

Analyse your feelings. Is it loneliness, guilt or sadness? What do you think made you feel this way. The purpose of this is to help you identify the root of your depression and not to dwell in the feelings. Remember, no matter how much you get yourself depressed, it won’t change the event. What happened was in the past, you deserve to be happy, move on!

Avoid Drinking Alcohol

During this time, you are more likely to turn to alcohol to sober up. Resist the temptation. If you do consume alcohol before just for the fun and feel of it, now is not the time to do such. You are likely to drink too much and might want to continue the sequence to escape your feeling. 

  • Eat healthy diets
  • Resume your normal routine
