Oshiomhole Returns As A Factor In APC Power Game

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has emerged in the shadows of the unfolding political cum judicial imbroglio that is confronting the Mai Mala Buni led Caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, multiple sources have revealed.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered that Oshiomhole could bounce back to reckoning in the APC leadership if he so desires given the dismissal of the court case that led to his forced removal as national chairman it was learnt.

This is as lawyers have also clarified that the circumstances that led to his controversial ouster from office last year insisting that the suspension that removed him from office has been overturned by the court.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Oshiomhole, a former two term Edo State governor of Edo State, shortly after leading the party to victory at the 2019 general election, was removed from office upon judicial and political intrigues that swallowed the party last year.

President Muhammadu Buhari was to step in, having prevailed on various litigants to sheath sword, culminating in the current Governor Buni-led caretaker arrangement. The tenure of the Buni-led interim APC leadership has continued to be extended ahead of the party’s national convention.

An Abuja High Court had in July 2020, dismissed a suit challenging Oshiomhole’s contention against his suspension by the party at the Ward level in his native Edo State.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the suspension was upon the power tussle between Oshiomhole and the governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki. Oshiomhole on his part was alleged to have masterminded Obaseki’s disqualification from the APC primaries on the basis of alleged irregularities of his certificate.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the substantive issue about Oshiomhole’s controversial suspension was silently resolved in his favour by an Abuja High Court sitting in Jabi. The court dismissed the substantive suit filed by Comrade Mustapha Saliu, Oshawo Steven and four others over the purported suspension of the former APC National Chairman by his ward 10, Iyamho, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The Court in a ruling by Justice D.Z. Senchi, dismissed the said Suit with Suit No: FCT/HC/CV/837/2020, followed the application filed by Counsel to the Plaintiffs/Applicants on the 1/7/2020 asking to discontinue the suit.

After Oshiomhole won in the case of his suspension at the APC ward level, the plaintiffs were expected to return to the Lower Court  to commence the hearing of the substantive suit for his removal which had remained at abeyance last year. Instead, they filed an application seeking a withdrawal of the substantive suit.

However,  GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered that counsel to Oshiomhole, Ginika Ezeoke of D.D. Dodo & Co. had argued that while not being opposed to the withdrawal that the case should be dismissed.

In his ruling, Hon. Justice Senchi ruled thus: “Pursuant to the Motion on Notice, No. FCT/HC/M/8148/2020, dated and filed on 1/7/2020 discontinuing this suit at the instance of the Plaintiffs/Applicants and the Defendants/Respondents not opposing the application for discontinuance, the application is hereby granted and suit is dismissed. Parties to bear their respective cost, if any.”

Political pundits were on Tuesday saying that with the removal of the original cause for his removal from office that Oshiomhole may have returned to the shadows in the power intrigues in the APC.

Oshiomhole,  GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports, had earlier removed himself from any such schemes to return to office.
