Tension As Gunmen Invade Rivers University, Cart-Away ATM

Gunmen have invaded the premises of the Rivers State University causing chaos and carting away the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of a bank.

According to reports, the gunmen were dressed in police uniforms when they gained access to the university premises.

It was also gathered that the armed robbers had ordered the security personnel to open the gate around 3 am on Wednesday and subsequently tied him down.

They reportedly carted away the ATM and a shuttle bus parked in the Rivers University premises.

The Rivers State Police Command spokesman while confirming the incident promised to send out more details on the attack later.

Meanwhile, in a similar development, daredevil armed robbers again attack a bullion van in Ore, headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

According to reports, the incident happened around 3 pm when the armed men opened fire on the bullion van around Costain area, killing two policemen and a bank worker.

A source explained that the men opened fire on the bullion van while in motion, forcing the driver of the van to stop abruptly after being shot dead.

The source said the bullion van in Ondo was conveying an undisclosed amount of money to Ore when they ran into the hail of bullets of the suspected armed robbers who had laid ambush for them.

He, however, could not ascertain if the armed men made away with cash from the bullion van but said the hoodlums who operated for about 20 minutes searched the vehicle before leaving the area.
