A former Navy Commodore, Kunle Olawunmi, who alleged that Boko Haram sponsors are presently serving as governors, senators and in Aso Rock has been declared wanted by security agencies, The Punch has reported.

Olawunmi had in an interview with Channels Television accused the Muhammadu Buhari government of being indecisive in fighting the terrorists troubling the country even as he alleged that people that were mentioned as Boko Haram sympathisers had taken commanding positions in the government.

The interview with Channels Television was one of the reasons the DSS summoned the Channels Sunrise crew to Abuja for interrogation. The DSS was also critical of the interview with Governor Samuel Ortom where the governor labelled Buhari as a failure.

Olawunmi, a Professor of Global Security Studies, had said, “You remember this Boko Haram issue started in 2012 and I was in the military intelligence at that time. We arrested those people. My organisation actually conducted interrogation and they (suspects) mentioned names. I can’t come on air and start mentioning names of people that are presently in government that I know that the boys that we arrested mentioned. Some of them are governors now, some of them are in the Senate, some of them are in Aso Rock.

“Why should a government decide to cause this kind of embarrassment and insecurity to the sense of what happened yesterday (Tuesday attack on  Nigerian Defence Academy)?” he queried, adding that terrorist financiers want to turn Nigeria to a Taliban type of country.

Upon the disclosures, The Punch reported that intelligence agencies including the Department of State Services and the Defence Intelligence Agency have since launched a manhunt for Olawunmi.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported that Channels Television had been served a query by the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC over the assertions of the interviews with Olawunmi and Ortom.
