Chief Ayirimi Emami

Chief Ayirimi Emami has boycotted his revalidation exercise as a chief under the new Olu of Warri, HRM, Ogiame Atuwatse III. Instead of partaking in the validation exercise, Chief Ayirimi Emami who had been suspended as the Ologbotsere of Warri was captured in pictures paying homage to the gods of the water on Saturday.

No reason was given for his boycott of the revalidation exercise which is expected of all 71 statutory chiefs in Warri Kingdom.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the Olu’s palace had in its notice given ahead of the exercise affirmed that all chiefs were expected to turn up on the dates they were scheduled to appear for the validation. The only exception given was for chiefs who are either permanently or temporarily located outside the country and have the express permission of the Olu.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG further reports that on the day of the coronation of the new Olu of Warri that Chief Ayirimi Emami absented himself and rather travelled more than 900 kilometers to honour the emir of Bichi who was coronated the same day.

It is expected that with the development and given the groundswell of support for the new Olu of Warri that Chief Ayirimi Emami would lose his prestigious title of Ologbotsere of Warri, a highly revered title that has only been awarded about five times in 500 years. GreenWhiteGreen GWG could not confirm the nature of the appeal that Ayirimi may have made to the gods or if they can save his prestigous title in the face of his snub of the validation exercise.

Chief Ayirimi Emami had opposed the emergence of the former Prince Tsola Emiko as the new Olu of Warri and instigated judicial processes to abort the installation but he was unsuccessful in that regards.
