Delta APC LG Congress Holds Saturday – Panel Assures

The local government congress of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State holds Saturday, organisers said on Saturday.

Hon Matthew Omegara, Chairman, Delta State Local Government Congress Committee gave the assurance in a statement made available to  GreenWhiteGreen GWG.

The assurance he said was against the background of the confusion that arose from the court ruling which he said was misinterpreted to mean that local officials of the party in Delta State were the ones organizing the congresses.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the LGA congresses follows the ward congresses earlier held in July.

According to him the party is aware of the Court ruling which he stated only barred the State Chairman of the party, Prophet Jones Erue not the party officials from the national headquarters.

While saying the party is law abiding, he appealed to all members of the party to help them to achieve their goals of conducting free and fair Congress and assured of following the guidelines to the letter.

He actually promised that the committee would visit all the LGAs to distribute the election materials this morning.

This development, he said, counters the earlier impression that the court has restrained the party from going ahead with the Congress in the state.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the national chairman of the APC, Governor Mala Buni of Yobe State had earlier dismissed the court injunctions as immaterial.

The national chairman’s assurance followed the court action initiated by a section of the APC in Delta State to abort the congress upon fears that the process could be injurious to issues that arose from the Supreme Court judgment on the Ondo State Governorship battle between the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the APC.
