Edo PDP Mourns As COVID-19 Takes SSG’s Brother, John Ogie

The Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State has lamented the death of one of its leaders in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state, Mr John Ogie in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The party in a statement made available to  GreenWhiteGreen GWG on Tuesday said it was greatly saddened by the loss of the party leader who was also a brother to the incumbent Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie.

The late party leader, Ogie died on Monday, September 6, 2021 the PDP said.

“Mr John Ogie was a dedicated, loyal and committed member of our great party. His counsel and organizational ability was a blessing and added value to the development and growth of the party in not just ward 7 where he was a leader, but the whole of Ikpoba-Okha local government and by extension, Edo state,” state party scribe, Chris Nehikhare said in a statement.

“Mr John Ogie was snatched by the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic on Monday, September 6, 2021. 

“We pray that God will grant the Ogie Family, Friend, associates, well wishers and members of PDP ward 7, Ikpoba-Okha the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

The PDP used the statement to condole with Osarodion Ogie saying:

“To our respected and amiable Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Barr. Osarodion Ogie who is one of his siblings, we ask him to stay strong in this trying time.” 

At the same time, the party urged citizens to again adhere to COVID-19 protocols saying:

“We must once again take this opportunity to restate the need for all residents to get vaccinated against the corona virus,” the PDP publicity scribe said in using the death of John Ogie to reawaken consciousness about COVID-19.

The Edo Government it would be recalled has proposed COVID-19 vaccine passports to access banks and some other activiites.
