Teacher, 28, Allegedly Rapes 9-Year-Old Female Student in Kano

A Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered that a 28-year-old teacher, Hassan Aliyu, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl.

The police charged the teacher who resides in Badawa Quarters Kano with the procuration of a minor girl.

Chief Magistrate Mustapha Sa’ad-Datti adjourned the matter until September 20, for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel,  Miss Asma’u Ado told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 8, at Badawa Quarters Kano.

She said at about 4 p.m the victim went to the Islamic School situated at Badawa Quarters Kano and lured the girl into a room and sexually assaulted her.

Ado said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 275 of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, in another news, a 63-year-old man, Garba Bejin, appeared in a Magistrates’ Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, for allegedly threatening to kill a woman.

The police charged Bejin with criminal intimidation, contrary to the provisions of Ssection 376 of the Penal Code Law of Kaduna State.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Isah Hassan, told the court that the complainant, Abigail Yakubu, who resides in Binzom, Kaduna State, reported the matter at the station on Sept. 7.

Hassan said the defendant approached the complainant on her farmland and threatened to kill her if she did not leave the land.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Mary Adams admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 and one surety in like sum.

Adams adjourned the matter until Sept. 15 for hearing.
