Fani-Kayode Meets Buhari, Joins APC

Former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, on Thursday joined the All Progressives Congress, APC following a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

He was taken to President Buhari by the chairman of the caretaker committee of the party, Governor Mala Buni of Yobe State.

Fani-Kayode said he was led of God in his decision to join the APC adding that he had been instrumental to the defection of three former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governors to the APC. He said that he is also still wooing Governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu, Seyi Makinde, Oyo and Bala Mohammed, Bauchi to follow him to the APC.

Noting his reason for joining the APC, he said that it was in furtherance of his drive to sustain the unity of the country.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Fani-Kayode who also served as a spokesman of the President Goodluck Jonathan 2015 Presidential Campaign had been a hard critic of the president and had repeatedly disavowed any plans of joining the APC.

He had in 2019 said that he would rather die than join the Almajiri Peoples Party.
Fani-Kayode had for months been hobnobbing with the APC and had repeatedly defended some of the party’s governors, notably Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.

Remarkably, he had also been at one time a sharp critic of Yahaya Bello saying in 2018  “When I wrote that this boy was a useful idiot and an accursed slave, some said I was being harsh. Truth is that he is even worse than that. His mental faculties are non-functional.”

That was after Yahaya Bello was quoted to have said that he would jump into the fire if Buhari should tell him to do so.

Remarkably, since he started hobnobbing with the PDP there was little effort from the opposition party to disuade him, a fact that may have reflected the little consideration the party gave to him.
