Why Nigeria Is Not Naming, Shaming Terrorists’ Sponsors – Adesina

The Federal Government on Monday said that Nigeria was “not interested in naming and shaming anybody” alleged to be sponsors of terrorists in the country.

It said it was more interested in bringing such persons to justice.

Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity Femi Adesina stated this yesterday while featuring on Channels Television programme.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) had last week placed six Nigerians on its terror list.

Asked if Buhari would comment on the issue of terrorism at the United Nations General Assembly, following the UAE action,” he replied: “Naming and shaming won’t be the motive. Rather, bringing malefactors to justice would be it.

“Nigeria is not interested in naming and shaming anybody. Rather, it wants to bring them to justice,” Adesina said of the Nigeria government’s inclination towards sponsors of terrorists.

“You will see that the UAE has given some names, and the Attorney-General of the Federation(Abubakar Malami) has responded to that matter, saying that in due course, all these people will have their days in court.

“Rest assured that these people will be dragged before justice and justice will have its way.”

The development comes against the background of claims by stakeholders in the country that the Nigeria government has been reluctant to name those alleged to be sponsors of terrorism in the country as against the vicious moves by other countries who have named and shamed Nigerians accused of sponsoring terrorism.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the list of Bureau De Change operators also accused of collaborating in the sponsorship of terrorism has been kept secret.
