Federico Chiesa’s 46th-minute strike consigned Chelsea to successive defeats, as Juventus earned a slim 1-0 win over the Blues in their Champions League Group H fixture at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.

The defeat comes on the heels of Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to title rivals Manchester City on Saturday.

Both teams came into the match missing key players through injury. Juventus strike-duo of Alvaro Morata and Paolo Dybala were ruled out, while Chelsea missed Pulisic, Mount, Kante and Reece James.

Chelsea started on the front foot, coming close in the seventh minute. Alonso whipped in a corner to Lukaku, who steered a shot a goal, but Szczesny was on hand to make a save, after making an initial reflex save.

Chiesa came close to sending the Turin giants ahead, seizing on a mistake from Kovacic, ghosting past Christensen only to release a shot wide of the target. Rabiot had an effort sail just over the crossbar in the 31st minute.

Juventus continued to pile the pressure and almost came close, unfortunately Rabiot got in the way of Bernadeschi’s strike.

Despite the efforts of both sides it remained goalless at halftime.

Marcos Alonso made way for Ben Chilwell at the start of the second half, but it didn’t matter as Juventus took the lead at the start of the second half.

Chiesa gave Juve the lead 11 minutes after the restart. The Blues were caught napping when Bernadeschi released Chiesa on the left side, with the winger hitting a first-time strike beyond a helpless Mendy.

Chelsea made attempts at equalizing, but it was Juventus who came close to scoring again, with Bernadeschi missing a sitter in the 64th minute.

Chelsea came close to drawing level, but it was Juventus who left with maximum points on the night.

The result will weigh heavily on Tuchel, losing consecutive matches for the first time in his Chelsea reign. The Blues will be looking to bounce back against Southampton when they welcome the Saints to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, October 2nd, while Juventus face Torino in the Turin derby on the same day.
