Joke Silva: Our Silver Lining At @ 60

Joke Silva, actress, director, and businesswoman has become an icon and testament to grace in an industry that has been ravaged by all sorts of debauchery.
Joke Silva with her husband, Olu Jacobs, have also been a role model for family values not just in the industry, but also in society.
Olu Jacobs was born on September 29, 1961 and remarkably grew up in an orphanage in Lagos and turned out to be a success in her chosen profession.
A graduate of University of Lagos and the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London, Silva began her career in film in the early eighties.
She is known for her roles in the films 30 Days, “the Amazing Grace, and “White Waters”
 In addition, Silva has starred in numerous films and television series in both the English and Yoruba languages.  One of her earliest roles was in the 1990 English film Mind Bending.[
In 1993 she appeared in Owulorojo, followed by Violated in 1995, she also starred opposite Colin Firth and Nia Long in 1998.
On 29 September 2014, Silva who had created a niche for herself in the entertainment industry, received recognition as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, one of Nigeria’s National Honours, at the International Conference Centre in Abuja. The event coincided with her 53rd birthday anniversary. .
Before then, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes in October 2012 appointed Silva a goodwill ambassador.
Silva’s appointment which was for a period of three years was In accordance with the UN policy of enlisting prominent figures in art, music, film, sport and literature to assist with their campaigns,
She had been involved in the fight against human trafficking as seen in “I Am Priceless” campaign, which had also received support from the Nigerian authorities.
At 60, Joke Silva has undoubtedly become a silver lining endeared for her grace and grandeur in an industry that has overwhelmed many.
