The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has blamed selfish and bad leadership as the cause of the suffering of Nigerians.

In a message, Rev. Dr Samson Ayokunle, the CAN President, said that Nigerians are already suffering because they do not fear God, adding that today people are suffering from insecurity and other vices that make life very difficult for the common man.

The CAN President noted, “We are already in the hands of the enemies because of our corrupt and sinful life. We are in pains of insecurity, inflation, unemployment, poverty is stirring many people in the face. Kidnappers and bandits do not allow us to rest.”

He also added that bad leaders did not plan for the country to grow and if they did, they never made an effort to implement the development plans.

Ayokunle bemoaned the embezzlement of the wealth of the Nation. Adding that their actions threw the citizens into unnecessary sufferings and pains, pointing out that unemployed youths have taken to criminalities.

He said youths are trying frantically to run abroad to search for better life with some in the process perished in the Mediterranean Sea or ended up being used as sex slaves. Others turned to various vices including armed robbery and internet fraud.

He regretted that while the situation humanly speaking appeared bleak, said it is the right time to believe that there shall be showers of blessings because some people are praying for the country.

He believed that the Lord would cause wild beasts, the criminals operating with various names as Boko Haram, bandits, kidnappers, murderous herdsmen, unknown gunmen to cease from the land, saying that violence shall become a thing of the past in Nigeria and all Nigerians shall dwell in safety.

Above all, the CAN President expressed optimism that the economy would flourish and there shall be prosperity in the nation, stating that Nigerians who had run abroad would return home because Nigeria would be a desired nation by everybody.
